Facebook “fake news” filtering goes global from Germany

There are reports that fake news affected the recent President election in the United States. Facebook declined to those reports, but promised to take actions to stop those fake news being reached by a lot of people. The actions has started in the US and will soon be available in Germany.

In the US, you may be able to see some of the shared stories showed the above notice. That means the link may contain fake news stories.⛔️


Fake news is a world-wide problem. They are being shared quickly because of juicy headlines and images. Like this one in Germany which said oldest church is on fire is fake, but being shared with thousands of people including the verified one. 🙈

Germany’s Justice Minister Heiko Mass said “We need to fully utilize all the legal authority at our disposal”. Let’s hope the new tool by Facebook will fix those issues.
